Madison Central School Board considering high school wrestling co-op

Madison Central School officials are discussing a possible co-op with Oldham-Ramona and Rutland School Districts for high school wrestling.  Activities Director Mike Ricke told Madison Central School Board members during their meeting this week that he had been approached by the other school districts about the possibility earlier this year and has been looking into some of the logistics involved.

Ricke said that liability for any of the athletes would fall under each of the schools’ policies.  He said that even if they accept additional students to participate, it will still be a part of Madison’s program.

Madison Wrestling Coach Chris Waba said he supports the co-op idea.

Ricke said that what the schools put together as a proposal for the wrestling co-op will need to be approved by the South Dakota High School Activities Association. Â
