The Madison Central School Board approved issuing the district’s certified staff contracts for the 2020-2021 school year during its meeting on Monday.  Business Manager Mitchell Brooks said that this is the second year of a two-year negotiated agreement for the certified staff. He said per that agreement, this year, one-thousand dollars will be added to the district’s base salary, plus point-25-percent for salaries.  When the agreement was approved by the school board last year, it also included a ten-dollar per month increase in the district’s contribution to the staff member’s health insurance. Brooks said the contracts will be issued to the staff and will need to be signed and returned by the end of the month.

Also during Monday’s meeting, the school board approved several personnel items.  The board approved the hiring of Jill Ricke as an elementary school teacher to replace LaRae Glynn, who is retiring at the end of this school year.  Board members also approved the hiring of Melissa Blessington as an elementary paraprofessional to replace Melissa Lester, whose resignation was approved as of February 28th.  Blessington started in the position on Monday. The board also approved the hiring of Heather Meehan as a part-time Early Childhood paraprofessional starting on March 4th.

The Madison Central School Board on Monday also approved the second reading of four board policies, including policies regarding Staff Health and Safety, Staff Participation in Political Activity, and Suspension and Dismissal of Professional Staff members.Â
