The Madison Central School District is reporting its second confirmed positive case of COVID-19 within the district.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson said that the state Department of Health informed the district that a student or staff member at Madison High School has been diagnosed with COVID-19.  The first confirmed positive case in the district was announced on September 10th in Madison Middle School.

As with the first case, Jorgenson said the school district is working with the state Department of Health to determine if there are any additional students who would be considered close contacts. He said that if the state Department of Health believes any other children might be considered a possible close contact, the school district will notify the parents by e-mail and follow up with a phone call.  Jorgenson said the state Health Department will make all determinations of any students who are identified as close contacts and will also be contacting parents directly.  He said that the definition of close contact is to be within six feet of a person for fifteen minutes.
