Madison Central educators honored with parade

Madison Elementary 3rd grade teachers show their support for students during Thursday's parade

Emergency vehicles’ sirens led the way for a parade Thursday night honoring all the teachers and educators in the Madison Central School District.  This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and since school buildings are closed, Madison teachers lined up along 9th Street in Madison for students, families, and community members to drive by and show their appreciation.  The line of educators stretched from the Madison Middle and High Schools west along 9th Street to Madison Elementary School.

Hundreds of vehicles paraded down 9th Street, honking their horns in honor of the educators.  Many of the educators also held signs proclaiming how much they miss their students.

School buildings in Madison and across the state have been closed since mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
