Madison 5th grader places in state Arbor Day Poster Contest

A Madison Elementary School student has placed in the state’s Arbor Day Poster Contest.

Abigail Ingham, a Madison 5th grader, was selected as the second-place winner in the 2020 South Dakota Arbor Day Poster contest.  Ingham receives a one-hundred dollar cash prize and certificate of achievement for her award.

The first place winner in this year’s contest, 5th grader Sienna Weiman of Yankton, also has ties to Madison.  She is the granddaughter of Roy and Kathy Lindsay of Madison. Weiman will receive a $125 cash prize and a certificate of achievement, and her poster will be featured on the division’s poster contest promotional flyer.

This year’s Arbor Day poster contest theme was “Trees Are Terrific…In Cities and Towns!”.  There were 567 entries from fifth grade students from across the state.

The top twelve artists’ posters will also be featured in the annual Arbor Day Poster Contest Calendar.
