Mack sentenced on Lake County grand theft charge

A 35-year-old Castlewood man was sentenced on a felony grand theft charge in Lake County Circuit Court on Tuesday.  Cody Mack had earlier pleaded guilty to one count of grand theft by embezzlement from an incident dating back to 2020.  Circuit Judge Pat Pardy sentenced Mack Tuesday to serve eight years in the state penitentiary, and make restitution of more than 63-thousand dollars.  Of that restitution, more than 56-thousand is to be paid to Camridge Colony, and close to seven-thousand dollars to Castlewood Farmer’s Elevator.  He was also ordered to pay fine and court costs of more than six-hundred dollars.

Judge Pardy suspended Mack’s penitentiary sentence, based on several conditions.  Some of those conditions include that he serve thirty days in the state penitentiary and be on supervised probation for six years.
