Lewis Drug named Regional Drug Chain of the Year

A national industry publication has named Lewis Drug it’s Regional Drug Chain of the year.  Chain Drug Review, which reports for the Chain Drug Store Industry, announced Lewis Drug’s honor in its January edition.

Lewis Drug has 58 locations in three states, including in Madison.

Earlier this year, Lewis Drug purchased pharmacy assets, including prescription files and records, from Shopko Stores in Madison, Mitchell and Sisseton, as well as Luverne and St. James, Minnesota and Ida Grove, Iowa.  Lewis Drug also opened a new location in Aberdeen this past year, where Shopko Stores also stopped their pharmacy operations.

Mark Griffin, Lewis Drug’s president and chief executive officer, said that one characteristic that has been central to the company’s success is its size – being big enough to offer customers everything they need in a convenient, accessible space, but not being too big and overwhelming.  Griffin said Lewis Drug offers a variety of items, including medications, specialty items, gifts, and products ranging from beauty, grocery, wines and spirits, to things for people’s pets.

The Lewis Drug Company has been family-owned since 1942.
