“Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety” is the theme for Fire Prevention Week this week. South Dakota Fire Marshal Paul Merriman encourages people to spend a little more time during this week thinking about fire safety. Fire Prevention Week is designed to educate citizens, especially children, about the different sounds that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms make. Merriman said that people should know what to do when an alarm sounds and make sure that there are working batteries in smoke alarms on all floors of a home.
More information on Fire Prevention Week can be found on it’s website.
