Today is the Last Day to Purchase Fireworks in South Dakota
Today is the last day to legally purchase fireworks in South Dakota. The final day to legally discharge fireworks is July 9. Reminder that the City of Madison’s policy on Fireworks is that they are not allowed in city limits.South Dakota’s Fire Marshal is reminding residents that fireworks safety is always important.
“Each year at this time, we encourage people using fireworks to protect themselves, others and surrounding properties,” said Fire Marshal Paul Merriman. “While abnormally dry conditions continue in many parts of the state, it remains important to discharge fireworks in a responsible way.”
For many, using fireworks is a traditional celebration of Independence Day. However, Merriman warns that if not handled properly, fireworks can also become deadly.
