A large number of angels with gift requests for local children remain available on Lake County’s Angel Trees.

As of Monday, 280 Angel Tree gift requests were still available for people to pick up.  The Angel Trees are located at the Madison Public Library, and Gary’s Bakery and Montgomery’s in Madison.

The Lake County Food Pantry is reporting a record 305 children with Angel Tree gift requests that need to be filled.  With each child receiving a clothing request and a toy request, that adds up to 610 requests total for this year.

This is the 37th year that the Food Pantry has organized the Angel Tree for children and a Christmas food distribution.  This year, a total of 171 Lake County families will receive food baskets, along with the children receiving the gifts. There are donors available for the needed food, but help is needed in finding sponsors for the 280 remaining Angel Tree gift requests.

Food Pantry volunteers will begin accepting wrapped Angel Tree gifts at the First Presbyterian Church in Madison on Saturday, December 7th at 11:00 a.m .  Volunteers will also receive gifts on Monday, December 9th through Wednesday, December 11th from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. each day.

Volunteers will then deliver the Christmas gifts and food baskets to Lake County families on December 14th.
