Lake County taking applications for Roads and Bridges Advisory Committee

The Lake County Commission has established a County Roads and Bridges Advisory Committee.  During their meeting Tuesday, commissioners approved forming the committee to come up with recommendations regarding the county’s roads and bridges.  The discussion of the committee came about after commissioners decided in July against imposing a new tax levy in the county to help fund county road improvements.

Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust put together guidelines for the committee for the commission’s discussion Tuesday, based on a discussion commissioners held at a previous meeting.  The committee will consist of eleven members, including County Commissioners Deb Reinicke and Dennis Slaughter, the County Highway Superintendent, County Auditor, Commission Administrative Officer, and six members of the public.  Gust said that the public members of the committee will be selected by the commission through an application process.

Applications of those interested in serving on the committee will be due by August 31st and commissioners will review them during their first meeting in September.  According to the guidelines, the committee is intended to be informal, and meetings may be open to the public but are not required to be.
