The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will be adding a Reserve Officer to its department. Sheriff Tim Walburg told Lake County Commissioners during their meeting this week the benefits of adding a Reserve Officer to the force.
Walburg said that some of the funding his office has applied for through a Homeland Security grant will go toward some equipment for the planned special response team.
The Reserve Officer that Walburg is adding is Jeremiah Schneider of Madison, who he said is a paramedic, a member of Madison Ambulance, and has served in the military for many years. He said Schneider will have training he will have to complete for the position. Walburg said Schneider will not be paid for the position, but needs to be approved by the commission for insurance purposes.
