Lake County forming roads and bridges advisory committee

The Lake County Commission is planning to form an advisory committee to come up with recommendations regarding the county’s roads and bridges.  Last month, commissioners discussed imposing a new tax levy to help with the funding of county road improvements, but decided not to after much discussion at a special meeting.

On Tuesday, commissioners discussed forming an informal committee that would include members of the public along with several county officials.  Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust outlined the commission’s options in forming the committee, which included also what Commissioner Deb Reinicke said the purpose and scope of the group would be.

Commissioners will take formal action on establishing the county’s roads and bridges advisory committee at their next meeting on August 18th.

Meanwhile, applications of interest from the public will be accepted and commissioners will select six people to serve on the committee.  The committee will also consist of two county commissioners, the County Highway Superintendent and Auditor, and Commission Administrative Officer.

Applications of those interested in serving on the committee will be due by August 31st and commissioners will review them during their first meeting in September. Â
