Lake County continues storm repair work

Lake County officials continue to work through the repair work necessary after the May derecho.  Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Dave Hare told Lake County Commissioners this week that Amert Construction is continuing its work on the county’s Highway Shop, with doors to be installed on the two buildings next week.

Commissioners on Tuesday authorized Hare to also replace a garage door on the Highway Department’s quonset building at a cost of up to two-thousand dollars.

Also this week, the commission, acting as a Board of Adjustment, approved a conditional use permit for Tom Baumberger of Wentworth.  Zoning Officer Mandi Anderson told commissioners that Baumberger, along with his son, Justin, had requested to expand their current Class “E” operation for swine to a Class “C” CAFO.  She said that the Baumberger’s existing barns were destroyed by the May storm, so they proposed expanding their facility.  The new CAFO would consist of up to 11-hundred head of nursery swine and a facility consisting of up to 22-hundred head of finishing swine.
