Lake County Commission hears Lake Madison speeding concerns

A Lake Madison resident brought some concerns about speeding and other issues to the Lake County Commission during its regular meeting this week.  Jenifer Kahler met with commissioners during the Community Comments portion of their meeting Tuesday.  Kahler said that she lives across from the Lakes Golf Course on 461A Avenue and is concerned about the speeding.

Kahler said there are also concerns in her neighborhood about golf carts.

The speed limit in the area is currently 25-miles-an-hour, and Kahler said that there is a problem with people following that.

Commissioner Dennis Slaughter suggested that the Sheriff’s Office put it’s speed trailer in the area, but Highway Superintendent Nels Nelson said that has already been done.  Nelson also said that he has a traffic counter in the area currently that can also register vehicle speeds.  Commissioners did not take any additional action on the issue on Tuesday, but said that they will visit with the county departments necessary to work on addressing the problem. Â
