Lake County Commission approves personnel action

The Lake County Commission approved several personnel items during its regular meeting on Tuesday.

The commission approved the hiring of a new Office Manager for the county’s Extension Office.  Commissioners approved Carrie Schiernbeck to fill the full-time position, effective July 13th at a rate of $16.45 an hour.  Schiernbeck is replacing Glenda Blom, who retired from the position last month.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners approved a couple of resignations.  They approved Shane Ortman’s resignation as a Correctional Officer for the Sheriff’s Office and Jail effective June 27th, and also Ben Gearhart’s resignation as a Dispatcher for the county’s 911 Communications Department effective May 20th.  Both positions are now being advertised.

County commissioners Tuesday held an executive session at the end of their meeting to discuss personnel.  Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust said that after the session, commissioners approved a motion to name Highway Superintendent Nels Nelson as the temporary acting weed supervisor and authorize overtime as needed for Nelson for spraying.
