Lake County Commission approves communications equipment project to help emergency responders

The Lake County Commission has authorized Lake County Sheriff Tim Walburg to move forward with a communications equipment project on Lakeview Tower in Madison.  During their meeting Tuesday, commissioners heard from Walburg about the project that he said he and 911 Communications Director April Denholm have been working on for two years.  

Walburg said that there have been instances where their radio towers have gone down and this would allow them to utilize another channel in emergency situations.  

Walburg said that one of the things that slowed down the project is getting the license for the civil defense channel back to Lake County from Minnehaha County.  

Walburg said that they may also have to replace the antenna on top of the building.  He said that the project will cost approximately ten-thousand dollars and will be split between the Sheriff’s Office and 911 Communications.
