Lake County 4-H barns getting new pens
Livestock barns at the Lake County 4-H grounds in Madison will soon have new pens in them. Lake County 4-H Advisor Jen Hayford told Lake County Commissioners Tuesday that the county’s 4-H Leaders decided to replace the sheep, goat, and swine pens in the barns and started a fundraiser last fall. She said that the total cost for 72 new pens was 21-thousand-600 dollars.
Hayford said that 4-H Clubs, individuals, and businesses helped pay for the pens through the fundraiser, along with five separate grants totaling more than five-thousand dollars. She explained to commissioners where the pens would be located.
Commissioners approved Hayford to move forward with the pen project and to allow the middle pens in the swine barn to be anchored as requested.
Hayford said the pens should be in by the end of April or beginning of May.
