Irrigation system to be installed at city sports complex

Madison’s Parks Department has received the go-ahead to install an irrigation system at the Baughman-Belatti sports complex.  Madison City Commissioners this week approved the request presented by the city’s Park Supervisor Mike McGillivray.  McGillivray told commissioners why the improvements to the complex are needed.

McGillivray requested approval to purchase the materials for the project, which would then be installed by city workers.  The total cost for the materials is just more than 53-thousand dollars.  McGillivray said that the money to cover the cost could come from a couple of different funds – one which is his department’s reserve fund for the project.

McGillivray said they will have to figure out if they will need to tap a water main for the project or have a well drilled for the irrigation system.
