Hernandez pleads not guilty to Aggravated Assault charges

A trial date has been set for the Madison man who pointed a gun at law enforcement officers during an incident near the Classic Corner convenience store last month.  

34-year-old Benjamin Hernandez of Madison appeared in Lake County Magistrate Court Wednesday on four felony counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.  Hernandez pled not guilty to the charges and Judge David Gienapp scheduled his trial for March of 2021.  

Hernandez is being held in the Lake County Jail on 50-thousand dollars cash bond.  

Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer is a Class Two Felony, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in the state penitentiary and a fine of 50-thousand dollars.Â
