Hartford man sentenced for having unlicensed explosive materials

A Hartford man has been sentenced to serve time in federal prison for having unlicensed explosive materials.

U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons said that 60-year-old Gerald Gosmire of Hartford was sentenced to serve 18 months in federal prison after being convicted of Unlicensed Receipt of Explosive Materials.  Gosmire was indicted by a federal grand jury in July of 2019 and pled guilty in November of 2019.

In November of 2018, law enforcement officers searched Gosmire’s property pursuant to a search warrant.  During the search, 37 explosive devices were found. A permit was required to possess explosive devices of that nature and Gosmire did not have one.

Along with his prison sentence, Gosmire also will be on supervised release for two years and pay a special assessment of one-hundred dollars to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
