Governor signs needs-based scholarship bill

Governor Kristi Noem on Thursday signed Senate Bill 171, which provides 50-million dollars for the South Dakota Freedom Scholarship.  The money, together with other donations, will create a two-hundred-million dollar endowment for needs-based scholarships in the state.

Noem said that this scholarship will give thousands of students the opportunity to succeed.  She said that the money will sustain needs-based scholarships for South Dakota students far into the future. Â
