Governor Kristi Noem said Tuesday that the federal government is making resources available to states to help children who have been impacted by COVID-19.  In her news briefing, the governor said she had been on a conference call earlier this week with the President and the First Lady to discuss what will be made available for states and local communities to respond to child welfare situations.

Noem said that the state Department of Social Services announced that it received nine-million dollars in CARES Act funding to support child care programs with the continuation of child care services for the families they serve.

Providers will receive an e-mail with the application for funding and will have 30 days to apply.  Noem said more information is available on the state’s website – covid.sd.gov.Â
