Governor Noem signs DSU bills

Governor Kristi Noem has signed a couple of bills into law associated with Dakota State University’s new athletics complex.

The governor signed Senate Bill 34, which authorizes DSU to sell property located near the site of the new athletics complex.  District 8 Senator Casey Crabtree has said that this bill gives DSU the ability to sell off around two-point-four-acres of property where a retention dam is located.  He said it’s not something they can incorporate into future growth.

The other bill, Senate Bill 93, allows for an increased appropriation for the construction costs of the DSU Athletics complex.  Senator Crabtree had introduced this bill and said that the estimated cost of the project increased to 40-million dollars from the original estimate of just more than 28-million dollars.
