Close to 26-hundred workers and family members with ties to the Smithfield Foods pork processing plant in Sioux Falls have gone through a mass testing station that was set up in the city. Governor Kristi Noem said on Wednesday that 15-hundred people had been tested on Monday and 11-hundred on Tuesday. She said that results from those tests will be reflected in the state Department of Health’s numbers in the next few days.
Even with the expected increase in numbers, Noem urged residents not to lose focus.
Noem also spoke Wednesday on the return of state workers to their offices. She said that departments are handling the move back in phases, and that every department and agency is handling it differently depending on the services they provide. Noem said that some workers will continue to work remotely also if needed in order to help with physical distancing and hygiene measures.
