Friday COVID-19 update: 1 death in state; 5 new positive cases in Lake County

One additional COVID-19 death and more than 200 new positive cases of the virus were reported on Friday.  The state Department of Health reported close to 25-hundred active COVID-19 cases and 74 people hospitalized because of the virus.

Lake County had another five positive coronavirus cases reported Friday, along with four recovered cases.  The county now has 67 active COVID-19 cases. 

In our area, Kingsbury County saw a jump in active cases, increasing to 59 on Friday.  McCook County reported 19 active COVID-19 cases, Miner County-10, and Moody County had four active cases.  Brookings County reported 112 active coronavirus cases as of yesterday.

The state Department of Health reported also that 40-percent of the state’s population had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 26-percent had completed their vaccination series.
