The state Department of Health is reporting a fourth positive COVID-19 case in Lake County Friday.  In data released Friday, the state is reporting that Lake County has four positive COVID-19 cases, with two recovered, and 96 negative tests.  The state is not reporting any community spread in Lake County at this time.

One more death from the virus is also being reported in the state Friday – a male in Jerauld County is the tenth person to die from COVID-19.

Overall, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases increased by 84 Friday to a total of 2040 statewide.  The number of those who have recovered from the virus has increased as well to 1190.  Currently 61 people out of 124 who have ever been hospitalized remain in the hospital because of the coronavirus.

Governor Kristi Noem says she will extend an executive order for two more weeks telling people in Minnehaha and Lincoln counties to stay home if they are vulnerable to COVID-19. The order only applies to people in the two counties who are over 65 or who have chronic health conditions. Those two counties, which both contain parts of the state’s largest city, Sioux Falls, account for almost 90% of confirmed cases in the state.
