Five COVID-19 deaths reported in SD Wednesday

The state is reporting that five more people have died from COVID-19.  In information released Wednesday, the state Department of Health reports that all five deaths are from Minnehaha County, putting that county’s total deaths from COVID-19 at 24.

The state also is reporting an additional 58 new positive cases in the state Wednesday.  There is also an increase in the number of people who have recovered from the virus, setting the number of active COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday at 773.  There are currently 72 people hospitalized because of the coronavirus.

In our area, Brookings County is reporting one active positive case at this time, and Moody County currently has three active cases.
