Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire south of Rutland on Monday night.  Lake County Emergency Management reports that at around 10:30 Monday night, the Wentworth Fire Department, as well as all surrounding fire departments, were dispatched to a structure fire at the Lindholm Repair shop.

Firefighters battled cold weather as an estimated more than 57-thousand gallons of water were hauled to the scene by ten water tenders up until 4:00 Tuesday morning.

Emergency Management said the building and its contents are considered a total loss, but there were no injuries to anyone involved.

The cause is still under investigation by the Wentworth Fire Department and the South Dakota Fire Marshal’s Office.

Responders assisting with the fire included the Madison, Ramona, Nunda, Chester, Wentworth, and Colton Fire Departments, Lake County 911, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management, and Sioux Valley Energy.  Crews were all back in service by around 4:30 Tuesday morning.
