Following last week’s rolling blackouts, reviews at several levels are going on.

Due to record cold across the middle of the country, the Southwest Power Pool mandated those blackouts for most electric utilities across the region to protect the entire grid.

Chris Studer with East River Electric Power Cooperative headquartered in Madison, says they are doing their own study.

Studer says they were forced into new territory.

Studer says there will also be reviews on a regional and national scope.

Studer says at times Basin Electric was generating excess power, but member cooperatives still had to cut power to their customers.
