DSU to be ‘mask optional’ beginning May 10th

The South Dakota Board of Regents on Tuesday announced plans to change to a “mask optional” policy in indoor and outdoor environments starting on Monday, May 10th.

At the recommendation of university presidents, a system-level protocol that required face coverings in all public indoor spaces on campus since last fall will end.  Dakota State will join in the effort, as the state system moves to return to normal campus operations this fall.

DSU President José-Marie Griffiths praised students and employees for their efforts throughout the academic year.

DSU will continue to follow CDC recommendations for social distancing and meeting room capacities, along with proper hygiene techniques, but DSU COVID dashboard reporting will transition to a weekly update, on Wednesdays. DSU Administration will continue to monitor conditions on campus and make necessary adjustments.
