DSU senior receives two Information Security scholarships

A Dakota State University senior has earned two prestigious scholarships.

Sara Stehlik, who’s a Network and Security Administration major at DSU, is one of thirteen young women from across the country chosen to receive two scholarships from the Scholarships for Women Studying Information Security.  The scholarships are designed to assist women at the formative stages of their careers in information security.

Stehlik was also chosen for a new scholarship, which was established by the director of engineering at Google.  This scholarship is awarded to a woman who is “challenging the stereotype of a cyber security professional”.

Stehlik volunteers with DSU’s CybHER group.  She is also the current Miss Clay County and was to compete in the 2020 Miss South Dakota pageant this spring. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that has been postponed to May 2021.

Stehlik is slated to graduate from DSU in May 2021, and is planning to pursue graduate education.
