October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Madison’s Domestic Violence Network is doing its part to raise awareness in the area.  One of the Domestic Violence Network’s annual fundraisers was not able to be held this year because of COVID-19, so they came up with something different to help raise awareness and raise money.  On Saturday, the group is hosting a Cruise on Egan Avenue in Madison.  From 5:00 until 7:00 Saturday, people are encouraged to cruise Egan Avenue and make a donation in one of the fundraising buckets that will be available.  Donations will help support the group’s new shelter in Madison.

Rosee Hansen, Support Group Coordinator for the Domestic Violence Network, said domestic violence is something that’s hard for people to talk about.

Hansen said the group’s goal is to help victims and their families.

Hansen said the Madison community has been very supportive of the Domestic Violence Network.

The Domestic Violence Network’s phone number is 427-7233.  Hansen said that someone is available to help victims 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Again, residents can help out the Domestic Violence Network in Madison on Saturday by taking part in it’s cruise from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and making a donation. Â
