DCI investigating incident near Classic Corner as officer-involved shooting

The state Division of Criminal Investigation continues to investigate an officer-involved shooting incident that happened Wednesday near Classic Corner in Madison.  

DCI Chief of Staff Tim Bormann said Thursday that the individual involved in the incident was injured in the shooting, but the injuries are not life-threatening.  He said the person is in the hospital, but he did not have information on the individual’s condition.  Bormann said the Madison Police Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and South Dakota Highway Patrol all responded to the incident at around 11:30 Wednesday morning.  Madison Police reported that they responded to a report of a barricaded suicidal subject in a vehicle.  Bormann said that the DCI is investigating the officer-involved shooting portion of the incident.  Any charges against the individual involved will be determined by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.Â
