It’s Day Four of this week’s winter storm, and once again area schools and other businesses and entities are closed.
There’s No School today (Friday) at Madison Central, Madison Christian, and St. Thomas Schools, along with Oldham-Ramona, Rutland, Chester Area, Arlington, and Flandreau. The Lake County and Miner County Courthouses and county offices are also closed today. County officials also recommend no travel in the county, and county plows will be out Friday morning when visibility conditions are more favorable.

Governor Kristi Noem has again ordered state government offices closed across most of the state today (Friday).
State offices will remain open in Bon Homme, Clay, Custer, Fall River, Lincoln, Minnehaha, Turner, Union, and Yankton Counties. Offices will also remain open in the western portion of Pennington County (including Hill City, Keystone, and Rapid City).
While executive branch offices in the rest of the state will be closed, employees will be working remotely.
Officials continue to closely monitor the storm which features continued snow accumulations, high winds, falling temperatures, and blowing & drifting snow making traveling conditions dangerous.
Lake County remains in a Winter Storm Warning until 3:00 p.m. Friday.
Residents are encouraged to stay home if possible. Those who must travel are encouraged to check sd511.org or use the SD511 mobile app.
