Madison’s only movie theater is opening up this weekend under new ownership.

Kelli and Tim Brown have purchased the former Madison Movie Theatre and re-named it Dakota Cinema.  The Browns officially took over ownership of the theatre on November 15th and they, along with their family and friends, have been working to do some remodeling, painting, and updating in order to open the theatre up again this weekend.

Dakota Cinema opened last night with a showing of the new movie “Frozen 2”.

“Frozen 2” and the movie “Midway” will be showing at Dakota Cinema through December 5th.  Kelli Brown said that there will be nightly shows seven days a week, with the addition of a Sunday matinee at 4:00 p.m.  She said that ticket prices remain the same as they were with the previous theatre – adults are seven-dollars, senior citizens and kids 12 & under are six dollars, and the matinee price is five-dollars. Brown said they will accept credit and debit cards now at the theatre for both tickets and concessions, and there will be gift cards available for purchase as well.  She said concession prices remain relatively the same, with more options available for drinks and candy, different popcorn seasonings, and the return of a kids pack.

Brown said that going forward people should watch for more updates and more special events happening at Dakota Cinema.
