Cruise for Cancer to be held Saturday as part of Lake County’s Relay for Life

Like most events during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lake County Relay for Life will have a different look and plan for this year.  Relay for Life, which raises money for the American Cancer Society, will this year include a “Cruise for Cancer”, or a drive-through luminaria ceremony on Saturday, along with a virtual silent auction starting Friday.

Pictures and videos of the various silent auction items and baskets donated for this year’s Relay for Life will be posted on the Relay for Life of Lake County’s Facebook page starting this morning.  Bidding on the items will be done on the Facebook page and will last until Saturday night at 10:30.

On Saturday, luminary bags will be placed along the driveway west of the livestock buildings on the Lake County 4-H grounds.  The bags will be in place starting around 5:00 Saturday evening for people to drive through and take a look at the names of those who have either lost or survived their battle with cancer.  Candles in the luminarias will be lit around 9:00 and a ceremony will be broadcast on KJAM FM 103.

Luminarias are sold for a five-dollar donation to Relay for Life and can be purchased today yet at the KJAM Studios in downtown Madison or at the 4-H grounds on Saturday starting at around 5:00.
