Crabtree on Governor Noem’s Budget Address

Governor Kristi Noem laid out her budget plan for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2023 and Fiscal Year 2024 in an address to state lawmakers on Tuesday.

The governor will ask legislators to cut the state sales tax on food during the upcoming legislative session.  Senate Majority Leader Casey Crabtree of Madison said that there is a lot for legislators to discuss in this area.

Crabtree said he supports the governor’s proposal to cover tuition for National Guard members that attend Board of Regents institutions, and her proposal for long term care.

Legislators will start their 38-day legislative session on January 10th.
