The state Department of Health on Monday reported more than 200 people with COVID-19 being treated in hospitals in the state.  Secretary of Health Kim Malsam-Rysdon says hospitals in the state still have plenty of beds available to care for COVID-19 patients.

The state Department of Health’s website shows 45% of the staffed hospital beds in the state are available to care for all patients while 28% of the staffed Intensive Care Unit beds are available, as of Monday.  Since the pandemic began in March, close to 1,500 South Dakota residents have had to be hospitalized because of COVID-19.
