COVID-19 update: Lake County resident is one of three deaths reported Monday
A Lake County resident is one of three COVID-19 deaths reported by the state Department of Health Monday. The overall total number of people who have died with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic is now at 1970.
The state also reported 85 new positive COVID-19 cases Monday. Active cases in the state decreased to just more than 15-hundred and 105 people are currently hospitalized because of the virus.Â
Lake County reported no new positive COVID-19 cases and one new recovered case, along with the additional death. Overall, the county has had 1362 positive cases, 1325 recovered cases, and nineteen deaths since the start of the pandemic. There are currently 18 active COVID-19 cases in Lake County, which the state Department of Health has also moved down to moderate community spread of the virus.Â
The only county in our area to remain at substantial community spread is Brookings County, which reported 91 active cases as of Monday. Moody and Kingsbury counties have moderate community spread, and McCook and Miner counties reported minimal community spread of COVID-19 as of yesterday.Â
