County commission approves 911 Communications department grant-funded items

Lake County’s 911 Director received approval from Lake County Commissioners Tuesday to move forward with projects and items for her department to be paid for through state grant funding.  April Denholm met with county commissioners during their regular meeting Tuesday to discuss the projects that she would like to use the grant funds for.  Denholm said that she was notified of the grant funding possibilities late last year.

Denholm said that Lake County is eligible to receive 43-thousand dollars in grant funds.  She identified several items she’d like to include in her funding requests, including new mapping software for the department.

Denholm said the mapping software would be close to 28-thousand dollars.  The other items she wanted included in the grant funding request include a new laptop for around 22-hundred dollars, as well as exercise equipment, a small refrigerator and microwave for staff  to use.  Those items would total just more than one-thousand dollars.  Denholm also told commissioners that she is including a new recorder in her request.  This costs close to 30-thousand dollars, but Denholm said she could receive partial funding through the grant and then cover the remaining cost from the 911 Communications upgrade budget.
