County approves requests for special events

The Lake County Commission has approved a couple of requests for special events in the county. During their meeting Tuesday, commissioners approved a request from Feeding South Dakota to hold their monthly food distribution event in Madison at the parking lot at the Lake County 4-H grounds. Feeding South Dakota applied to rent the parking lot on the afternoon of the second Monday of each month for its food distribution. Commissioners approved Feeding South Dakota’s request on a three-month trial basis to see how the site works for the event. They will review the request again in December.
Also this week, commissioners approved a temporary malt beverage license for St. Thomas Aquinas Parish’s Gala Committee to hold a special event at the St. Thomas House on Lake Herman. Teri Jaspers met with commissioners to discuss the license request and said that the parish’s Gala Committee is planning a Lakeside Diner and Drive-In event in place of it’s normal Gala. The event will be held on September 19th at the St. Thomas house on Lake Herman and is held as a fundraiser for St. Thomas. Commissioners approved the temporary license and told Jaspers that any alcohol will have to be consumed outside of vehicles.
