County approves request for temporary certified law enforcement officers to work Prairie Village Jamboree

The Lake County Commission has again approved a request from Sheriff Tim Walburg to enter into an agreement with Prairie Village to hire temporary certified law enforcement officers to work at the Prairie Village Jamboree in August.

Walburg told commissioners during their meeting Tuesday that they have done this in previous years, but not last year because the event was not held due to the pandemic.

Commissioners Tuesday approved the hiring of four individuals to serve as temporary Deputy Sheriffs at a rate of 25-dollars an hour effective during the Prairie Village Jamboree on August 26th through the 29th.

Also on Tuesday, county commissioners accepted the resignation of Community Health Nurse Office Manager Laura Olson, effective June 11th.  County Human Resource Specialist Shelli Gust told commissioners that there has been interest in the position internally within the county employees.  Commissioners authorized Gust to post the position internally for one week, with it to open externally if there are no suitable applicants during that time.
