County approves purchase of communications equipment replacement

The Lake County Commission has approved a proposal to replace a piece of communications equipment for first responders and law enforcement.  Emergency Manager Kody Keefer told commissioners during their meeting Tuesday that the Ramona/Northwest repeater that is currently located on the Ramona water tower is in need of replacement.

Keefer said that Vantek Communications of Sioux Falls recommends replacing the repeater and antenna at an overall estimated cost of just more than 82-hundred dollars.

Keefer said that there are no state or federal grants available for this type of repeater, which is UHF instead of the digital VHF, but it is what is needed to work with the communication equipment that the fire departments are using. Â
