The Lake County Commission took action on some personnel items during its meeting on Tuesday.

Commissioners approved the resignation and retirement of the county’s Deputy Register of Deeds Carol Nordling.  Nordling has worked for Lake County for 33 years and is retiring as of January 20th of 2020.

Register of Deeds Shirley Ebsen met with commissioners to discuss the filling of Nordling’s position, which is currently a 32-hour a week position with benefits.  Ebsen said she would like to make it a 40-hour a week position with benefits. Commissioners approved Ebsen’s request and authorized county Human Resource Specialist Shelli Gust to go ahead with advertising for the position.

Commissioners Tuesday also approved the hiring of a Heavy Equipment Operator for the county’s Highway Department.  Riki Hansen will start in the position on November 25th at a rate of $18.25 an hour. Highway Superintendent Nels Nelson also requested and received the commission’s approval for Office Manager Debbie Rowley to work overtime as needed through the end of the year.
