The Lake County Commission adopted the county’s new wage scale for 2020 during its meeting on Tuesday.  Commission Administrative Officer and Human Resource Specialist Shelli Gust told commissioners that county departments who are hiring positions from this point forward are using the new wage scale as a guide.  The new wage scale is effective December 16th. Along with the adoption of the 2020 wage scale, commissioners also authorized the adjustment of all county employees to the appropriate payroll grade for their current position on the scale.

Commissioners on Tuesday also authorized Gust to advertise for a newly created position within the State’s Attorney’s office.  A Victim/Witness Assistant will be hired as a part-time position with no benefits. They also approved the hiring of Jamie Rowe as the nurse for the Sheriff’s Office and Jail.  This position is a part-time position with no benefits effective December 16th. Adjustments in status were also approved by the commission for the county’s two Deputy Treasurers, both effective December 16th.

Commissioners took action on some other personnel items also during their meeting Tuesday.  They approved the hiring of Walker Ruhd as a new Heavy Equipment Operator for the county Highway Department, effective November 25th at a rate of $18.25 an hour.  The commission also approved a couple of wage increases for two other Heavy Equipment Operators in the Highway Department.
