County approves CAFO permit for swine barn near Nunda

Lake County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a conditional use permit for a new concentrated animal feeding operation near Nunda.  Commissioners approved a permit for a Class “C” operation for Cody and Kenneth Hansen to build a 24-hundred head finisher swine CAFO barn on property just west of Nunda.  County Zoning Officer Mandi Anderson said the operation will be located off of a Nunda Township road. Commissioners approved the permit for the Hansens, adding the need for a written agreement with Nunda Township on road maintenance.  Commissioners required that agreement be submitted to the county’s Zoning Office before a building permit for the project is issued. 

Also on Tuesday, Lake County Commissioners approved the re-appointment of Courtney VanZanten as the county’s Veterans Service Officer.  The commission approved VanZanten’s re-appointment for a term of four years, effective the first Monday in January of 2020. Her term will run through the first Monday in January of 2024.
