Lake County employees will have additional days off before the Christmas holiday this year.  Lake County Commissioners had decided earlier this year to allow any additional holiday leave time granted by the governor to state employees for county employees as well.

But when Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust told commissioners during their October 15th meeting that this year that included Monday and Tuesday, December 23rd and 24th, as well as the Christmas Day holiday, it raised some concerns from Auditor Bobbi Janke.  Janke expressed concern to commissioners about her office’s ability to complete all that needs to be done at the end of the year.

Commissioners on Tuesday agreed that they wanted to stay with what they had voted on earlier in the year and that is to follow the state’s approved administrative leave for county employees.  That means that county employees will have holiday leave on Thanksgiving and the day after, November 28th and 29th, and also on December 23rd, 24th, and 25th for the Christmas holiday.

With the approved leave time, Janke asked commissioners to then move their last meeting of the year to December 30th instead of December 26th.
