For more than 40 years, a Colton woman has been helping raise money for her community through rummages sales.  Darlene Hoffman, who turns 85 in November, will have her final Colton Community Rummage Sale on Saturday at Taopi Hall in Colton.  Money raised through this rummage sale is going to the Colton Fire & Rescue. Modern Woodmen is matching one-thousand dollars of the proceeds.

Hoffman held her first rummage sale in 1977 to make money for her sons’ amateur baseball team.  That sale made $88. Hoffman started giving the proceeds from her rummage sales to the Colton Fire and Rescue Department in 1997, and has raised more than 80-thousand dollars for the department since that time.

Saturday’s Colton Community Rummage Sale is from 7:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
