A Colman man has been identified as the person who died Saturday night in a motorcycle-pickup crash west of Hartford.

A 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup was stationery in the eastbound lane on South Dakota Highway 38 waiting to make a left-hand turn into a business. An eastbound Harley Davidson FXDWGI motorcycle failed to slow down in time and struck the rear of the pickup.

Eric Top, the 43-year-old motorcycle driver, was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the motorcycle. He was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Both occupants of the pickup, John Henjum of Harrisburg, S.D., who was the 37-year-old driver, and the 44-year-old female passenger from Sioux Falls were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.

South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
